A new earth-like planet has been discovered circling a red dward some 20 light-years away. The planet is a high contender for sustaining liquid water and being very Earth-like and as such habitable. Does the thought of such closeness to a world potentially similar to ours scare you ?

Rain and miserable weather has hit London this week. What are the best ways of passing time in London on such weather?

I’m on the Piccadilly line and this dude is trying to chat up this bird – not entirely sure whether they knew each other or he only just approach it but he’s definitely hitting on her. He’s dressed like a “cool dude” ripped jeans and t-shirt with a few rock’n'roll bracelets and rings on while she strikes me as trying to pose as a “posh bird” (you know the kind, prada bag and a couple of designer items on her, trying to put on a posh accent that shows somehow that it is a bit unnatural to her to speak like that). She’s pinning him down left right and centre as he’s playing on his “I don’t care”-like attitude, throwing a lot of street slang into the conversation and intentional grammar mistakes – the kind you hear kids making every day. I am beginning to think he’s quite sweet playing the “I’m dumb” game only because its quite visible this “superiority” pleases her – at the same time there was a part of me who kept wondering whether he isn’t in fact just plain dumb and deserves his fate… until this happens:
she (long conversation that I can’t quite remember and then) … unlike Shakespeare. You heard of Shakespeare, right? (oh the tone of superiority in her voice!come on love, no one is that ignorant!)
he (playing on the same dumb and ignorant card brilliantly) Yeah, heard of him – he dead!
I’m pissing myself laughing at this point as I though his reply was quite funny but she just throws him one of her disgusted looks and says:
She Surely you meant to say “he died”?
He Well yeah sure first he died like years ago … but now he dead!!
I could tell from her reaction she didn’t like the comeback – quite witty and spot on I thought! – and unfortunately not sure whether he managed to score or not in the end but his delivery has been impeccable and he kept the same dumb look about him after such a dead funny comeback. Good on you mate!

It came as a bit of a shock to many, but apparently Sascha Baron Cohen will be playing Freddie Mercury in a movie about the rock band Queen — do you reckon he’ll make a good Freddie? Or who else would have been a better choice?

The British Library is toying with the idea of archiving Twitter contents of certain accounts, like Stephen Fry’s. Do you think this should be consider historical material and as such should be archived by the British Library?
